TOTAL Tanzania has supported two Dar es Salaam schools with pit latrines, an initiative aimed at creating a friendly learning environment. The support was part of the petroleum market and service company 700m/- total annual package for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The Oil firm’s Managing Director, Mr. Tarik Moufaddal said after handing over 12 pit latrines to Kivule secondary school that his company apart from education, its CSR total annual package focuses on health, road safety, sponsorship, and donations.

“Total initiative has helped in improving hygiene conditions to over 6,000 students as it strives to build a partnership with civil society to achieve sustainable development,” he said.

Yombo Dovya primary school is another beneficiary of the Total CSR package. Total, the French oil giant, is behind the 1,445km crude oil pipeline project worth 3.5 billion US dollars from Hoima Uganda to Chongoleani Tanga port in Tanzania.

He said Total Tanzania commitment in its CSR total annual package aims to ensure a healthy and sustainable educational environment to primary school pupils in the country. Total Tanzania through its initiative partnership with Total Group Sponsorship Committee has distributed 3,000 school desks to 30 needy schools in Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo.

As part of showing concerns to the environment, the French multinational company disclosed its new brand of fuel in Tanzania ‘Total Excellium’ through its branch, Total Tanzania. The type of fuel will enable Tanzanian motorists to save costs as well as keep their engines under close maintenance.

Fuel industry has been evolving, with innovations and technological ambitions playing a part to make a successful story. The total has shown dedication and commitment to ensure their customers access quality services at minimal costs and stiffen the competition in the industry.
