Africa Prosperity Network and Africa-America Institute to Host 2024 Global Africa Forum in New York

The Africa Prosperity Network (APN), in partnership with the Africa-America Institute (AAI), is set to host the second edition of the Global Africa Forum (GAF) on September 25, 2024. The forum will be held at Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, and will coincide with the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York City.

The Global Africa Forum seeks to strengthen ties between Africa and its diaspora, fostering collaboration to unlock economic opportunities in line with the African Union's Agenda 2063. The event will focus on key sectors such as energy, health, education, housing, transportation, and digital infrastructure. A major objective is to encourage investments from Global African investors and promote public-private partnerships for infrastructure projects that integrate African markets.

The forum will also address US-Africa economic policies that could facilitate funding for large-scale infrastructure projects across the continent. Stephanie Diatta, head of international relations at the Africa Prosperity Network, highlighted the importance of the forum in connecting people of African descent with economic opportunities in Africa. “Hosting this forum alongside the UN General Assembly allows for greater networking and collaboration on a global scale,” she noted.

The inaugural Global Africa Forum in 2023 saw the launch of the Global Africa Network, which connects over 200 million people of African descent with Africa's development, particularly through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Notable attendees of the 2023 forum included Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, leaders from Afreximbank, and representatives from the African Union.

The 2024 forum, themed “Mobilising Global Africa Investments to Address Africa's Infrastructure Financing Deficit,” will align with the goals of the upcoming 2025 Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD). The APD will focus on enhancing Africa’s single market through strategic infrastructure development, further reinforcing partnerships between the private and public sectors.

This event marks a significant opportunity for the African continent and its diaspora to collaborate on key economic and development issues, contributing to the realization of Africa’s long-term growth and prosperity goals.
