Science for Africa Foundation Adds Global Leaders to Board



The Science for Africa Foundation (SFA Foundation) has strengthened its leadership team by adding two prominent global thought leaders, Dr. Victoria Simpkin and Martin Eigbike, to its Board of Directors as non-executive directors. The decision to bring these accomplished individuals on board reflects the foundation's ongoing commitment to embracing diverse expertise and perspectives vital for effective governance.

In an official announcement, Prof. Alinah Segobye, Chair of the SFA Foundation Board, expressed excitement about the new appointments, highlighting the extensive experience and insights that Dr. Simpkin and Mr. Eigbike bring to the organization. Both individuals boast diverse backgrounds in science, policy, and research and development (R&D), closely aligning with the foundation's mission to drive scientific innovation across Africa.

Dr. Victoria Simpkin, a seasoned cardiologist known for her expertise in health policy research, R&D strategy, and clinical development, is currently the Chief Business Officer at Weatherden, a leading global clinical consultancy. Meanwhile, Martin Eigbike, a strategy and policy advisor with a focus on development initiatives across Africa, brings his vast experience as the founder and Managing Partner of Gawani Advisors Africa Inc.

Prof. Tom Kariuki, CEO of the SFA Foundation, emphasized the significance of a robust and diverse board in ensuring accountability and corporate governance. With Dr Simpkin and Mr Eigbike on board, the foundation now boasts a ten-member board of independent, non-executive directors, each contributing unique expertise and a global outlook to the organization's strategic direction and impact across the continent.
